Introducing our Founder
YZ was founded by Yannick Zapf after he had spent over a decade in various management roles within the renewable energy sector in Europe, South Africa and Australia. Yannick is a renewables all-rounder with a strong background in both commercial and engineering aspects. He holds a Master’s degree (Dipl.-Ing.) in engineering from Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD).
As Head of C&I solar PV for specialist engineering consultancy Clean Technology Partners, Yannick previously led a team of engineers and project managers to advance the uptake of solar PV in Australia. Having joined in its early stages, Yannick played a key role in growing the business significantly. Later on, as Head of Sales, Yannick focused on services for large-scale solar, wind and storage projects.
As a technical Project Manager at Germany’s largest wind energy developer and operator, WPD, Yannick had previously established expertise in project development for onshore wind projects, including their grid connection.
Yannick is passionate about making a contribution to his community and is involved in several start-up incubators as a mentor, keeping his finger on the pulse of the renewable energy industry in Australia and internationally. Yannick is also a board member at Eighteen04, Newcastle’s longest serving clean-tech hub.

Introducing our Senior Advisor
Tanja Ghahraman joined YZ in 2023 after a successful career in key account and business development management, and earning an MBA with Distinction at the University of Newcastle. At YZ, Tanja coordinates projects, bringing structure and momentum to complex, multi-party processes, and manages relationships with network service providers, contractors, strategic partners, and other key stakeholders.
As a Senior Advisor, Tanja is a highly motivated, goal-oriented professional with over 15 years of experience and a proven track record in leading complex projects, managing ambitious stakeholders, and scaling and developing businesses. She applies an analytical, data-driven approach to decision-making and is committed to helping clients navigate the project journey efficiently and with clarity.
Tanja has a strong client focus and a genuine passion for delivering a seamless advisory experience. She meets stakeholder needs with an entrepreneurial approach, consistently adding value to all parties involved.
Her goal is to make a meaningful contribution to society by supporting the clean energy transition.
