Battery In Front of the Meter

YZ is working with a long-term client to integrate a DC coupled BESS at their operational 4.99 MW Solar Farm in regional NSW. The addition will enable greater flexibility and support the existing connection to the electricity network. This project builds on the site’s solar generation to provide smarter energy management, enhance grid stability, and contribute to cleaner energy delivery.

The project reflects the important role battery storage plays in strengthening renewable energy projects and low-carbon grids.

Battery Behind the Meter

YZ is assisting a local government organisation in strengthening energy resilience at its Newcastle site. Building on the existing solar and storage system, YZ is supporting the addition of new battery technologies, including lithium-ion and flow battery solutions. The expanded system will improve energy management and contribute to on-site sustainability goals.

This project highlights the growing importance of advanced storage in delivering cleaner, reliable energy for local organisations.

Battery for Everyone

From 1 July 2025, households and small businesses in New South Wales can access up to $1,500 for connecting their batteries to a Virtual Power Plant (VPP). Combined with the federal discount scheme, which cuts battery costs by 30%, this can lead to around $4,500 in savings on a typical $10,000 system.

This initiative is set to fast-track battery adoption across NSW and drive demand for innovative solutions that strengthen the grid, support decarbonisation, and empower consumers to play an active role in the clean energy transition.
