Over the past few months, global energy markets have been reshaped by world affairs; a reminder of how quickly external events can influence fuel prices, supply chains, and energy demand.
Against this backdrop, YZ is seeing strong momentum across the sector, from local industry engagement in Newcastle to project progress in the Upper Hunter, and increasing activity in battery storage across Australia.

Energy in Newcastle
YZ has been present at a number of networking events held in Newcastle at the beginning of the year, including the University of Newcastle’s International Careers Day, the Infrastructure Lunch by Business Hunter, Greenhouse Tech’s Climate Innovation & Investment Summit, and, of course, the first part of this year’s Renewybeers trilogy.
These events reflect the strong level of activity across the region and the growing energy and engagement within the local industry and community.
Energy in the Hunter
The UHEP Wind Farm, with YZ as development coordinators, is currently in the process of securing offtake via a PPA arrangement and additional equity to reach financial close.
Most recently, the 66kV overhead line has successfully advanced through the Ausgrid approval process. The application received final sign-off, marking another key milestone in the overall project delivery.
Energy in Australia
YZ is currently supporting a number of clients on a range of battery storage projects of different scales across Australia. This includes a DC-coupled BESS addition to an existing solar farm in NSW (studies approved, connection amendment imminent), two early-stage large-scale BESS projects near Sydney, and a standalone BESS in Victoria, where YZ is managing the R1 package for AEMO registration post connection application approval.
